Panattoni to build logistics centre for automotive supplier in Alfdorf

  • 13,696 m² of warehouse space to be connected to existing building
  • Total investment of approx. 13 million euros
  • Building work to begin in mid-October 2017

The project developer Panattoni Europe is developing a logistics centre with 13,696 m² of warehouse and 672 m² of office space on a site of 27,307 m² in Alfdorf near Stuttgart for the automotive supplier ZF. The ZF subsidiary TRW Automotive GmbH manufactures passenger protection systems for the automobile industry. The total investment cost for this project amounts to approx. 13 million euros. The on-site logistics handling will be carried out for TRW Automotive by Lakner Spedition + Logistik GmbH & Co. KG.

Panattoni Europe specialises in the development of industrial and logistics real estate. With this project, the company is implementing a logistics centre which will be connected to the already existing logistics facility of TRW Automotive. The new centre has been tailored specifically to the requirements of TRW Automotive GmbH and will be developed in compliance with the KFW 70 standard.

Michael Ruster, Plant Manager of TRW Automotive GmbH in Alfdorf, explains, “By extending our warehouse and office space in Alfdorf we can make full use of the potential of this location near Stuttgart. Panattoni is a competent partner in our plan to implement this logistics centre by the middle of next year.”

Special emphasis was placed on integrating the neighbouring area into the planning and implementation process. To create optimal traffic connections, for instance, a new entrance and fire brigade access road has been planned. Panattoni is expecting building work to begin in the middle of October 2017 and the facility is due to be completed in mid-2018. The project was brokered by Colliers International.

Regarding the management of this project, Panattoni Europe can rely on its substantial experience in the development of industrial and logistics real estate, especially build-to-suit projects such as this one. Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, explains the success factors. “In Alfdorf we are contributing our expertise to a project where new logistics and office space will be added on to an existing facility in an attractive logistics location. In addition to our experience and expertise, active communication between all participants and the integration of neighbouring areas are further factors which will play a role in the success of this project.”
